Protective Style for Fall: Box Braids

Hello Beauties!

We all know the seasons are changing.  As the cold weather is coming in, I had been deciding what protective style I wanted for my natural hair.  I'm a big fan of two strand twists and wash & gos, but I felt that I wanted to let my hair relax for awhile.

I came across I Love Box Braids on Tumblr and from there I knew my protective style had to be...

Disregard my funny faces.  :)

I chose long box braids.  The braids go all the way down my back.  I am enjoying them a lot and as they loosen, I will create different styles for them.  I plan to keep them no more than 8 weeks and keep them moisturized with oils and braid spray.

Do you all have any protective styles in mind for the fall/winter?  Share your thoughts!  Be blessed!

Madam of Glam: Bold, Statement Jewelry

Hello Beauties!

I had a thought recently.  I often blog about beauty items, but I think I have an equal amount of love for shoes (yes!) and jewelry, especially statement pieces.  When it comes to both jewelry and shoes, I'm always looking for items that are rare, unique.

Knowing this, a dear friend of mine suggested a Facebook page to me from a young lady with a jewelry business called Madam of Glam.  After viewing her page, I fell in love with some of her pieces.  After corresponding with Tiarra, the owner & located in Maryland, through a few e-mails, I decided to purchase a very affordable pair of spiked earrings.  I purchased the pair on a Friday and received them less than a week later.

Check out the pictures:

I absolutely love these earrings!  Plus, they were only $10!  One thing I enjoyed was the personal note included in my package.  It was a great touch and I will be a returning customer.  Many thanks and much love to you Tiarra!

Do you have any sites you go to for those fresh, one of a kind pieces?  Feel free to share!

God bless!

My Natural Hair Journey [March-October]

Hello Beauties!

I'm so glad today is FRIDAY!  I have a busy day ahead, but still...  I'm just glad for the end of the week.  I wanted to do a quick blog today on an update on my hair.  This week I took a leap and actually had my hair blown out for a length check.  I was shocked at how much my hair has grown!  Take a look...

I'm literally shocked at how much it has grown.  The back has grown out a lot.  I found one thing interesting though...  I actually didn't like my hair straightened.  I have grown to love and embrace my natural hair.  I will be doing another protective style soon to give my hair a break.

Have a great weekend & God bless!

Product Monday: Sedona Lace 88 Metal Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hello Beauties!

It's Product Monday again!  I'm definitely excited about today's Product Monday because it's featuring a company that is growing in popularity.  The company I'm referring to is Sedona Lace.  Sedona Lace was started two years ago.  They specialize in makeup palettes such as concealer, eye shadows as well as makeup brushes.  I started seeing a big buzz about their eyeshadow palettes so after some research, I decided to try their 88 Metal Palette.

Check out the pictures:

Pros
  • Fast shipping
  • Wonderful pigmentation
  • Long lasting
  • Smooth application
Cons
  • NONE!
Price$22.50
I truly love this palette.  It has colors that are perfect for work or either a night on the town.  The colors apply smoothly and literally last all day over my Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance.  Also, the shipping was incredibly fast!  I ordered this palette on a Friday afternoon and it was in my mailbox on Monday.  How awesome is that?

I would recommend this palette to ANYONE.  I absolutely love it and plan on investing in their 120 Warm Palette soon.

Check out a few eye looks I created:

What do you think ladies?  Would you try the palette?  Thanks for viewing my blog & God bless!

Natural Hair: What Products Do You Use?

    Hello Beauties!

Happy Sunday!  I hope you all have enjoyed your Sunday just as much as I have.  I have worked a LOT this week and I was thankful for a day off.  I wanted to post a blog today because I was inspired by a recent conversation I had with a friend last night.

She and I both have natural hair and as we were riding together, we started talking about shampoos.  She complained that her shampoo makes her hair "too clean" and strips it of moisture.  I let her know that it's important to use shampoos without sulfates.  I am nowhere near an expert on natural hair products, but I have found a few things that work for me that I thought I'd share.

    1.  Creme of Nature Lemongrass & Rosemary Leave-In Conditioner - I use this product often for detangling.  After washing my hair, I love to apply this, detangle and then add my curling product.  It is an awesome detangler.

    2.  Herbal Essences Hydralicious Conditioner - I use this product mainly for co-washing.  It adds a great amount of moisture to my hair and I love the smell.  I used this a LOT during the summer.

    3.  Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Shampoo - Well, well, well...  The infamous Shea Moisture!  I have to be honest.  I'm not really a fan of most of the Shea Moisture products.  They don't give me as much curl definition as I'd like; however, I love this shampoo.  It does not contain sulfates and it leaves my hair clean and soft.  It works extremely well with my hair.

    4.  Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Conditioner - This is another great conditioner that I use for either co-washing or simply to condition my hair after the Shea Moisture shampoo.  I particularly like this shampoo because it gives moisture and gives a little bit of curl definition as well.  Also, I enjoy the smell.  The smell reminds me of Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding; however, a lot of people find that smell rather strong so not everyone will be a fan of this.

    5.  Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam - Because of my schedule, if I do my natural hair, I mainly do wash & go's and this is what I use as my finishing product after my conditioner.  It gives me the perfect curly fro.  It's a mousse that's made to create wavy/curly hair.  I love it because my hair comes out perfect each time.  Also, it can be used on dry hair as well so it's great for next-day hair.

Well, these are the main products I use on my natural hair.  With natural hair, the key is keeping your hair moisturized.  Besides co-washes, I'm a big fan of olive oil on my hair as well for shine and moisture.

What are some products that you all use?

God bless & enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

    August/September Faves

    Hello Beauties!

I wanted to take the time to highlight a few beauty items I loved during the past two months.  Let's get started!

    1.  Milani Jewel FX Gold Nail Polish --  I will admit it.  I love glitter.  I don't wear glitter on my face, but I sure will wear it on my nails.  I love this nail polish because it gives you an amazing coat of glitter in one coat.  I chose this over Sephora by OPI.  Um... Yeah!

    2.  E.L.F Studio Concealer Brush --  You all already know that I love E.L.F brushes so this should be no surprise whatsoever.  I wanted another concealer brush and I figured I would go with an affordable brand I trust.  This brush delivers just like the rest.  It's sturdy and gives great application.  Love!

    3.  Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation --  Over the last few months, I have raved about the Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer.  Well, this wonderful powder is what I use on top when I want a full, flawless face.  I love this powder because it's made for ladies like me who have oily skin and it really gives a matte finish.  I do have to touch up my face throughout the day, but it's NOTHING compared to what it would be without it.   It's a staple.  I just wish it wasn't so expensive.  (Story of my life...)

    4.  E.L.F Golden Bronzer Palette -- I have been using this product for awhile, but when I tell you I use it everyday...  Ladies, I mean it.  I use this everyday as a highlight for my cheeks and/or eyebrows.  I love it because it gives my face such a nice shimmer of gold.  I have rarely used it as a true bronzer, but it surely is the best highlighter I've ever used.  POW!

    5.  E.L.F Studio Powder Brush --  I feel like you can never have too many powder brushes.  I mean with foundations, blushes, highlights...  You can never go wrong with having extra powder brushes.  As with the concealer brush, I was looking for another powder brush and this brush had RAVE reviews on the E.L.F website.  I decided to invest in it and let me tell you...  I'm so glad I bought two because this is my favorite brush.  It's awesome and easy to use.

Wondering where you can pick up these items?

Milani Jewel FX Gold Nail Polish --  Drugstores
    E.L.F Products --  Target, K-Mart or E.L.F Website
Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation --  Sephora (in-store) or Sephora's Website

I hope you enjoyed this post.  What are some of your favorite products right now?  Let me know & God bless you.
