Go Beyond the Beach: Four Dope Things to Do in #WrightsvilleBeach

Beauties,

If you know me, you absolutely know that the beach is my happy place! I have been traveling to the beach every summer with my family since I was a little girl and one of my family’s favorite beaches is Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. I grew up just an hour away from Wrightsville Beach and it’s a place that brings me so much happiness because I love the ocean, the great food and happy memories it brings. My husband and I recently traveled down to Wrightsville Beach for an early birthday getaway and we quickly found out that Wrightsville Beach has so much more to offer than we realized.

If you’re like me, when it comes to the beach, you may naturally think of the ocean and great seafood, but honey listen. Wrightsville Beach has so much more to offer than I knew and it’s perfect for a couples getaway, your family vacation or just friends hanging out. We decided to go beyond the beach and experienced four activities at Wrightsville Beach for the first time and we had a ball!

Check out what we did below:

1.  We explored the beautiful Airlie Gardens.

When we arrived in Wrightsville Beach after the short, three-hour drive, the first place we visited was Airlie Gardens. Airlie Gardens is a beautiful, 67 acres full of gardens and lakes. It has the most beautiful flowers, artwork and even includes the 474 year-old Airlie Oak. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful flowers, walking across the causeway over the lake and the butterfly house.

Cost:  $9 for adults 13 and over, $3 for children 5-12 and free for children 4 and under. Learn more here.

2.  We did paddleboarding for the first time with Wrightsville SUP!

As someone who hasn’t learned to swim, I was unsure if paddleboarding would be something I could do, but I am so glad that my husband and I were able to experience this! We had a private lesson at Wrightsville SUP and the staff were absolutely incredible. They made us feel so comfortable and guided us the entire way. They even gave us a little history once we made it across the water and talked to us about the various crabs and plants in the area. I can’t believe we learned to paddleboard, but we did it! My goal for next time is to learn how to stand on the paddleboard!

Cost:  Private lessons start at $80.  Learn more here.

3.  We took the Wrightsville Beach Scenic Tour and learned so much about the area.

Did you know Sandra Bullock once owned a home in Wrightsville Beach? Neither did we! We learned this on the Wrightsville Beach Scenic Tour. As someone who often sees most of the sites from the road, it was great to hop on a boat and discover more of the area. We saw where oysters live, where fisherman take and sell their catch of the day and all of the beautiful boats and homes on the water. It was so beautiful and honestly peaceful sailing on the boat.

Cost:  For ticket prices, visit here.

4.  We visited the Wrightsville Beach Historic Square and enjoyed the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History.

Before heading home, we dropped by the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History. One thing we loved from the start was that parking is free for the first two hours. We hopped out, enjoyed a glass of lemonade on the museum’s porch and walked right into the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History. The museum is inside an older home and includes so much history on how Wrightsville Beach has evolved over time. We were able to see a replica of what Wrightsville Beach used to look like, see the evolution of swimsuits and even chat with staff. It was such a cool experience!

CostFree!  Learn more here.

Have you ever been to Wrightsville Beach? Which activity would you love to try the most?

God bless & stay fab,
