I had the pleasure of speaking at the 3rd Annual NaturalStar Natural Hair Expo in Charlotte last Saturday. This well planned and fabulous event was held from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Carole A. Hoefner Recreation Center. The event included workshops, vendors, demonstrations, food and special guest, CharyJay. I hosted a workshop entitled, "Own Your Style," in the morning and I was happy to have around 20 women in my workshop.
In the workshop, we discussed confidence, dressing your body and affordable shopping. I also had each attendee read a positive affirmation about themselves in front of the group. The workshop ended up being a truly beautiful experience and hearing all the positivity in the room really blessed me. After the workshop, I walked around and visited the vendors, including my favorite, Pardon My Fro.
Later that afternoon, I spoke alongside CharyJay, Kelly of Revolution Ego Salon and Deanna Love of NaturalLove during the panel discussion. We talked about everything from natural hair in the workplace to the changing trends in protective styles. It was a great discussion because it included thoughts from bloggers as well as cosmetologists.
