Personal Style | My Birthday Suit

Hello Beauties!

Last weekend, I celebrated my birthday at the beach.  I hadn't spent more than one day at the beach in quite a few years so I thought it would be a great time, particularly because it's getting close to off-season, to visit the beach and play in the water.  This trip was especially memorable because we had a wonderful time and I took a major risk.

I have never worn a two piece bathing suit, but much of that is because of bathing suit designs I have seen throughout the years.  Since most designs would typically have the entire stomach exposed, I never even thought to wear a two piece until this year.  Plus size bathing suits have been popping up everywhere and the designs are so flattering.

I fell in love Forever 21+'s bathing suit collection this year.  They had amazing prints and designs!  I particularly loved this red, two piece when I saw it and I immediately posted about it on Facebook.  On my birthday, I opted for this set because it gave a crop top feel with just a little sexiness.  I felt confident on the beach and I'm glad I wore it.

Side Note:  When plus size bloggers first began wearing two piece bathing suits online, there seemed to be a lot of backlash and "fat shaming."  I just want to say that regardless of your size, you should love and embrace yourself.  Your size shouldn't keep you from being happy and living a fun life.

What type of bathing suit do you prefer?  Would you wear a two piece bathing suit?

  6. You look great. I wore a 2 piece for the 1st time also this summer. Mine was from forever 21 also. I got the pink one. For me it was scary and I was not as confident as I would have like. Still I am proud of myself. Small steps to become my best self, including embracing my body as is even while I work on making it better and healthier.

  9. Thank you! :-) You're right. It is very much about small steps. I was nervous when I walked out on the beach, but then it just got easier the longer I was out there. I bet you looked fabulous. I can't wait to see what Forever 21 comes out with next year.

  10. I agree 100% - embrace and love yourself, regardless of size. I haven't worn a 2 piece, let alone any kind of swimsuit in a while. Haven't been able to hit the pool/beach this summer, but I sure would be out there flaunting my curves! :-) I like them both - 2 pieces and one pieces. Whichever style flatters your body, I say go for it. Your confidence is inspiring. Thanks for sharing, sis!
