I had the pleasure of attending the Triad Goodwill 7th Annual Rock the Runway Fashion Show as media last Friday. As an avid thrifter, I had been looking forward to the show and couldn't wait to see what it was all about and trust, it was a wonderful experience. If you've never heard of the show, designers create original ensembles with clothing donated to Triad Goodwill. Not only do you get to enjoy a fabulous show, but you also get to shop and support a worthy cause. All proceeds from the night’s festivities benefit those who experience barriers in employment and job training within our community.
When hubs and I arrived to the show at the Elm Street Center in Downtown Greensboro, we headed downstairs where a silent auction was underway and hors d'oeuvres were being served. There were so many awesome items being auctioned off in the silent auction. I saw everything from a fabulous vintage fur coat to services with a local dermatologist. As we walked through, we tasted some of the delicious hors d'oeuvres.
I also had the pleasure of choosing the Best Dressed Guest at the show so as I walked around during the silent auction, I took photos of guests that I thought were truly rocking their looks. I chose Morgan who was rocking a gold, sequined cocktail dress with booties as best dressed. I loved her look! The fashion show started promptly at 7:30 p.m. and I loved the looks from the seven designers. My favorite designer overall was Brian who actually ended up being the judges choice as well! Congratulations Brian!
After the show, I actually went back downstairs where Triad Goodwill had set up a store to purchase some of their best items from their local donation stores. I ended up getting a Talbots turtleneck for less than $5. Can't beat a show that allows you to eat, thrift and see fabulous creations!
