Natural Hair | SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler Review

Hello Beauties!

Recently I was in CVS picking up my favorite shampoo by SheaMoisture, when I discovered they were having a buy one, get one free sale.  Jackpot!  The shampoo I picked up was the last on the shelf so I decided to check out other products.  Since I was low on my usual leave-in conditioner, I started eyeing the Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler.  Since it's in the same family as the SheaMoisture Moisture Retention Shampoo, I figured this was a great time to give it a try.  After using it twice, I think it's time to share how this detangler worked for me...

About the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler

My Thoughts

When I first saw this detangler in store, I was a bit intrigued because I could tell from the bottle, it has a thicker consistency.  Most leave in conditioners and detanglers I have tried are a bit looser and provide some slip.  Since it's a thicker consistency, I figured that it would indeed provide extra moisture.  I decided to try this product after washing, conditioning and doing the LOC method on my hair.  The detangler has a thick yet non-sticky consistency.  It smells refreshing and made my hair easy to comb through.  I also noticed as I combed my hair, my curls easily popped.  It also left my hair very shiny.

Would I Recommend?

Yes, but not in the manner it's suggested for.  This product is labeled as a detangler.  For my 3C/4A hair, it does help detangle my hair, but I have softer hair that is overall easy to detangle.  Due to the thickness and little to no slip of this product, I can't see it easily detangling 4B and 4C hair.  Also, I can see it easily weighing down 2A-3B hair.  I think this product is an excellent moisturizer, styler or possible leave in for dry hair that needs extra moisture.  I'm just not sure that it will provide the detangling needs for every hair type.

Have you tried the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler?  What is your favorite detangler?

God bless & stay fabellis,

  3. Thanks for checking out my review! Nothing wrong with V05! Lol! Everyone's hair loves different things. That conditioner probably has a great slip.
